Occasionally, a patient will exhibit a skeletal problem, which can not be resolved with traditional orthodontics alone. In this circumstance, we will often recommend that the patient consider a surgical procedure in conjunction with braces to allow for the most ideal result. Surgery is almost exclusively performed on patients who are no longer growing and allows for improvement in the facial balance and profile, as well as the manner in which the teeth fit together. Obviously, we will only suggest this procedure as the most appropriate treatment option to pursue.
